Telehealth Tips

Telehealth provides privacy, anonymity and is easily accessible. In order to make sure we have the best telehealth experience possible, here are some things to keep in mind:

  1. Your confidentiality is extremely important to me.

    • If there are others in your location, please make sure you have a private room to meet during our telehealth appointment.

    • In addition to finding a private room, wearing headphones/earbuds/earphones will make sure no one else can hear what I say and will also help with echoes.

    • Shutting doors and windows will also protect your confidentiality.

  2. While meeting virtually has a casual feel, our mental health session is a professional appointment.

    • Please, remove distractions (such as the TV, other devices, open tabs in your browser or apps on your phone, etc.)

    • Be sure to be fully dressed as you would if we were in-person and face-to-face.

    • Avoid the desire to multi-task, but instead give our time together the focus it requires.

  3. It’s important to prepare your technology for the session.

    • If using a phone, please have a way to stabilize it during our sessions. You’ll need your hands free during different phases of the EMDR therapy process. Also, I’d love to see your smile! So please make sure your camera is framing your face.

    • Please make sure your device is charged or plugged-in so we do not lose our connection.

    • Please make sure others are not streaming/downloading internet content on the same wifi network during the session. Others can text or use the internet, but high online activity at the same time may cause a disruption in our session.

    • Please keep in mind that at times, poor connections may still occur despite the best efforts on both of our parts. Flexibility is always appreciated!

Tomorrow doesn’t have to be like today. Let’s talk.

“God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”
